Durch die Tages-und Fachpresse ging schon vor einigen Monaten die Meldung, daß wir nun auch in London ein Datenzentrum eröffnet haben. Der Vollständigkeit halber bringen wir darüber in unserer Werkzeitschrift einige Daten:

Aus Wirtschaftlichkeitsgründen haben wir uns im Datenzentrum der S.I.A. (Service in Informatics and Analysis) einquartiert und arbeiten auf den gleichen Rechnern, wie wir sie in Hannover benutzen, nämlich auf den Grol3rechenanlagen der Serien CDC 3200 und 6600 mit unserem eigenen Programmsystem. Für Abspielungen stehen ein Digitalprofilograph und ein Kodak-Entwicklungsautomat zur Verfügung. Damit ist die Rechenkapazität von PRAKLA-SEISMOS bedeutend erweitert worden.

Anläßlich der Eröffnung fand am 27. April 1972 in Belgravia, London, S.W. 1, eine Cocktailparty statt, an der etwa 70 Personen, vorwiegend prominente Geophysiker und Explorationsexperten der in London ansässigen Erdölgesellschaften, teilnahmen. Unsere Gesellschaft war durch den Aufsichtsratsvorsitzenden Ministerialrat Dr. Lauffs, Dr. Trappe und Dr. Bortfeld vertreten.

Das Zentrum wird geleitet von unserem langjährigen Mitarbeiter E. Kreitz, der einige Jahre in unserem Datenzentrum Hannover an verantwortlicher Stelle tätig war; er wird unterstützt von unserem Mitarbeiter H. Aurich, der seine Ausbildung ebenfalls im Datenzentrum Hannover erhalten hat. Da sich London immer mehr zu einem Zentrum weltweiter geophysikalischer Explorationsaktivität entwickelt, rechnen wir mit einer guten Auslastung unseres dortigen Datenzentrums.

   PRAKLA-SEISMOS Data Center in London

A few months aga the daily press and the scientific periodicals gave notice that PRAKLA-SEISMOS opened a data center in London. To complete this information we bring now a few facts in this company magazine.

For economic reasons we have taken up our quarters in the data center of the S.I.A. (Service in Informatics and Analysis). We work there with the same computers of the CDC 3200 and 6600 series we use in Hannover, applying our own software. For playbacks we have at our disposal a digital profilograph and a Kodak Automatie Developer. With the opening of this second data center the processing capacity of PRAKLA-SEISMOS has been increased considerably.

On the occasion of the opening on April 27, 1972 a cocktail party was held in Belgravia, London, S.W. 1, attended by about 70 persons, chiefly prominent geophysicists and exploration experts from the London offices of oil companies. Our company was represented by the chairman of the board of directors Dr. Lauffs, Dr. Trappe and Dr. Bortfeld.

The center is managed by our colleague E. Kreitz, who has been in a responsible position in our data center in Hannover for many years. He is supported by H. Aurich, who was trained in our Hannover data center as weil.

As London is developing more and more to a center of world-wide geophysical exploration activities we believe that we can look forward, hopefully, to success.
