MDS 7500 Off-Une Konvertiersystem
Seit Anfang dieses Jahres ist in unserem Datenzentrum eine neue Apparatur eingesetzt, die eine weitere Rationalisierung der Arbeiten ermöglicht.
Das Konvertiersystem MDS 7500 ist ein nach dem Baukastenprinzip konzipiertes, vielseitiges und nach eigenen Programmen, jedoch ohne Software, selbständig arbeitendes Off-Line-System für verschiedene periphere Aufgaben. Das System verfügt über die Funktionen zur Eingabe von Lochkarten sowie Lochstreifen und zur Eingabe und Ausgabe von und auf Magnetband. Eine Druckausgabe ist möglich. Damit stellt das System MDS 7500 eine wertvolle Ergänzung der EDV-Anlagen für vorbereitende Eingabe-und anschließende Ausgabearbeiten dar. Der Arbeitsablauf ist also folgender:

MDS 7500 Off-Line Conversion System
Since the beginning of this year, a new instrument which makes possible a further rationalization of work has been installed in our Data Centre.
The MDS 7500 Conversion System is an independently working off-line system for diverse peripheral tasks. The system is versatile and has been conceived on a system of standard units, for a selection of several programs, without software.
The system can be used for the input of punched cards and punched tapes, and the in-and output of and from magnetic tapes. A printed output is possible, and so the MDS 7500 System represents a valuable supplement to the data processing plant for preliminary input and the subsequent output processing. The sequence of operations is as folIows:

Steuereinheit mit Magnetkernspeicher (Blocklänge 10-190 SteIlen) und Ein-/Ausgabekanälen mit Magnetbandgerät MDS 7505 für standardmäßige 7-Spur-EVD-Bänder 800 bpi mit Bedienungskonsole und 64-Zeichen-Tastatur (BCD).
Zeilendrucker MDS 7520, 132 Stellen, Druckleistung: 300 Zeilen pro Minute.
Lochkartenleser MDS 7516 liest 400 Karten (80stellig) pro Minute.
Lochstreifenleser MDS 7515 liest 400 Zeichen pro Sekunde (5, 7 oder 8-Kanal-Codes)
Range of Application in our Data Centre
Reading-in of punched tapes and output of data on magnetic tapes for aeromagnetics; data logging for marine surveys and printing of lists for commercial programs, etc.
Technical data
Control unit with magnetic core memory (block length 10-190 positions) in/output channels with a MDS 7505 magnetic tape unit for standard size 7-track tapes (800 bpi) with control panel and 64 character keyboard (BCD).
MDS 7520 line printer; 132 columns, printing performance: 300 lines per minute.
MDS 7516 punched card reader, reads 400 cards each with 80 columns per minute.
MDS 7515 punched tape reader, reads 400 characters per second; (5, 7 or 8 channel codes).
