In unserem PRAKLA-SEISMOS-Report Nr. 2/72 berichteten wir über die Eröffnung unseres Datenzentrums in London. Inzwischen hat sich unsere Arbeit hier nahezu reibungslos eingespielt. Eine gute Auslastung der vorhandenen Rechenkapazität konnte erzielt werden. Wir sind in London in der Lage, alle vorhandenen PRAKLAProgramme zur seismischen Datenverarbeitung auf Großrechenanlagen der Serien CDC 3200 und 6600 im Rechenzentrum der S.I.A. Ud. zu benutzen. Zur Darstellung der Ergebnisse haben wir einen PRAKLA-Digital-Profilographen und einen Trommelplotter von Calcomp mit PRAKLA-Programmen in Betrieb. Bis jetzt wurden Land-, See-und Flachwassermessungen bearbeitet, einschließlich der automatischen Migration der Endergebnisse. Das Personal setzt sich zu zwei Dritteln aus englischen und zu einem Drittel aus deutschen Geophysikern, Technikern, Operateuren und Verwaltungsleuten zusammen. Im Hinblick auf die in den kommenden Jahren zu erwartende Zunahme der Offshore-Exploration in englischen Gewässern ist eine Ausdehnung der Büroräume und die Einstellung von zusätzlichem Personal zum Frühjahr 1973 geplant. Der Kontakt mit den Geophysikern der in London ansässigen Ölgesellschaften ist gut. Wußten Sie, daß man inzwischen London in bezug auf seine Wichtigkeit für die Ölindustrie mit Houston zu vergleichen beginnt?			In our PRAKLA-SEISMOS Report No. 2/72 there appeared a short account of the opening of our new London Data Centre. Following our collective experiences of the last months, we can now further report that the staff have taken the work smoothly in their stride and that it is already possible to make full use of our available computer time. We in London are now able to utilize fully all the existing PRAKLA programs relating to seismic processing on the large CDC 3200 and 6600 computer configurations at S.I.A. Ud's Computer Centre and we have installed a PRAKLA Digital Profilograph and a Calcomp drum plotter using PRAKLA programs for the presentation of our results. Up to now, land, sea and shallow water surveys were so processed as to include the automatie migration of the final results. The staff of geophysicists, technicians, operators and administrative personnel are two-thirds English and one-third German, and as an increase in offshore exploration in English waters is anticipated for the coming years, an expansion of office accommodation and staff is planned for the beginning of 1973. Our contact with those oil companies resident in London is good. By the way, did you know that the importance of London's oil industry is being compared to that of Houston ?
